WELCOME TO TOMSICK STUDIO

After I retired from teaching math and science at Mariposa County High School, I began planning an art studio.  Since I had been doing woodworking at a friend’s shop, I envisioned a two-story structure, a wood shop below with art studio/gallery above.  At a Sunset Magazine home and garden show I was introduced to SIP, structural insulated panels, construction.  Our home sits on a two-acre, somewhat hilly, parcel. With help from friends, I planned the structure and its placement.  I hired a contractor who agreed to let me work on the building crew.  All the panels were delivered on a large truck.  The wall panels were glued and nailed in place. The larger and thicker roof panels were lifted into place with a crane. The structure, inside and out, was completed with the finishing work left for me to do.

I believe that I have achieved my goal of building a functional structure for doing artwork and woodwork, an appealing structure when viewed from the highway below and a welcoming venue for visitors to my gallery.  I hope these photos will encourage you to make an appointment to visit soon.  Phone 209 665 6504 or email <jaltomsick@gmail.com>
